Illustrative worked example — PriceCharting sold comps, June 2026 ($400 raw · $1,700 PSA 10, 30 sold). Grading cost = PSA $79.99 Regular tier + ~$40 round-trip shipping; the verdict nets the selling fee shown. Not a price or grade prediction.

That’s the 30-second call on one card. Run the 4-point check below to see where your card routes — BGS, PSA, or sell it raw.

Should you grade this card?

A four-point check built on the criteria BGS and PSA actually publish. Tap through and you'll get a routing call — BGS, PSA, or sell it raw — not a grade prediction. Graders make the final call.

STEP 1 OF 4

Centering

Measure the border-width difference between left/right (and top/bottom) with calipers or a centering app. Match to the tenth of a millimeter — graders round.

Whole card back, all four borders visible
Look at the whole card. Even borders on all four sides = centered. Compare left vs right and top vs bottom.
STEP 2 OF 4

Edges

Inspect under angled light with magnification. Count whitening, fraying, dings.

Loupe held over an edge of the card under angled light
How to look: run a loupe along the full length of every edge under angled light — watch for whitening or fraying.
STEP 3 OF 4

Corners

Same workflow as edges — angled light + magnification. Check all four.

WHITENINGWhitening and fraying at the card corner
Whitening and fraying right at the corner — the flaw to catch under angled light.
STEP 4 OF 4

Surface

Front AND back. Vary the lighting angle. Scratches, print defects, and holo scuffs all count. BGS reads both sides; PSA gives some forgiveness on the back.

SCRATCHHairline surface scratch beside the trademark mark
A hairline scratch on the back surface, beside the ™ (circled) — only shows when you tilt the card to the light.

This tool teaches a routing method — it does not predict any specific grade. Beckett (BGS) and PSA each apply their own published criteria and make the final call. Subgrades and overall grades are subjective at the margins. Use this as one input alongside your own evaluation.
